Position Description:

Licking County Job & Family Services (LCJFS) is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to serve as Public Assistance Caseworkers. In this role, you will determine initial and ongoing eligibility for a variety of public assistance programs such as:

  • Ohio Works First (OWF)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Medicaid
  • SNAP/Food Assistance

You will support families and individuals by conducting interactive eligibility interviews via phone and face-to-face, and by entering and maintaining data using specialized state software. You will also gather and verify required documentation, calculate applicant budgets, and issue necessary notifications while ensuring clients understand their rights and responsibilities.

This position is vital in connecting community members to essential services and other agency or external resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain public assistance programs and determine eligibility
  • Conduct phone and in-person interviews with applicants
  • Input and maintain data in state systems
  • Process documentation, prepare notifications, and verify eligibility factors
  • Refer clients to other programs or community resources as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in human services, business, accounting, or related field
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with the public
  • Competency in computer usage and data entry
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered
