Position Description
The AmeriCorps Buckeye Lake Watershed Coordinator will serve with the Licking County Soil and Water Conservation District as part of the 2025-26 Central Ohio Collaborative for Conservation AmeriCorps. The position supports water quality, conservation, and education programs within the Buckeye Lake Watershed and across Licking County. This is a one-year, full-time national service opportunity requiring at least 1,700 hours of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support community outreach through displays, brochures, fact sheets, and newsletters
- Conduct water quality education programs in schools and community events
- Prepare Buckeye Lake Watershed reports and maintain data and records
- Coordinate water monitoring activities, including volunteer training and database management
- Participate in field projects, such as installing and maintaining aeration systems
- Support large events like tree sales, River Round Up, and Stormwater Awareness Week
- Assist with conservation projects at other program host sites
- Complete administrative duties related to AmeriCorps service
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- At least 17 years old by start date
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and driving record review
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of environmental issues, water quality testing, and outreach
- Experience with public speaking and community engagement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and walk 2 miles over uneven terrain
Compensation and Benefits
- Living stipend: $884–$915 biweekly (approx. $22,984–$23,790 total before taxes)
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award: Up to $7,395 upon successful completion

Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District has provided environmental leadership, education, and assistance to landowners since 1967.
