Position Description:

The Kennel Attendant serves the county as a dog shelter assistant, ensuring the health, care, and safety of sheltered dogs and maintaining a clean and organized kennel facility. This position requires physical labor and a dependable, team-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Perform custodial tasks to clean and maintain the dog shelter
  • Supervise and coordinate Community Service personnel assigned to the shelter
  • Feed and water dogs daily
  • Assign dogs to cages appropriately
  • Assist the Administrative Assistant with phone calls and issuing dog licenses
  • Comply with job safety requirements and PERRP safety standards
  • Stay updated on procedures and attend trainings as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept.):

  • Must be dependable
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
