Position Description:
The Kennel Attendant serves the county as a dog shelter assistant, ensuring the health, care, and safety of sheltered dogs and maintaining a clean and organized kennel facility. This position requires physical labor and a dependable, team-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Perform custodial tasks to clean and maintain the dog shelter
- Supervise and coordinate Community Service personnel assigned to the shelter
- Feed and water dogs daily
- Assign dogs to cages appropriately
- Assist the Administrative Assistant with phone calls and issuing dog licenses
- Comply with job safety requirements and PERRP safety standards
- Stay updated on procedures and attend trainings as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Six (6) months of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept.):
- Must be dependable
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
